Matteo Moretto provided this update on Milan’s defensive transfer market in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel:
“After Thiaw’s departure, Milan will have to bring in a new centre-back. Allegri would like him to be Italian. As of today, the first name, the one Milan had already contacted before finalising the Thiaw deal with Newcastle, is Pietro Comuzzo of Fiorentina. We’ll see if there can be an acceleration as early as this week. Following the completion of the Thiaw negotiations, several central defenders have been offered to Milan. The club wants to take its time in making the decision, but I expect that by the course of next week, they will get to the decisive stage. I repeat, Comuzzo is the top name on Milan’s list.”
Regarding negotiations with Young Boys for right-back Zachary Athekame, Moretto said:
“Milan are aiming to wrap up the deal for Athekame today so that the player can be in Milan in the first days of next week. We’ll see if the Rossoneri’s plan will be confirmed.”
