With Rafael Leao out for the second consecutive match due to the calf problem he suffered against Cremonese, and with a clear desire not to risk worsening the injury with a rushed return, Massimiliano Allegri is considering some tactical options for tomorrow’s trip to Lecce, scheduled for 20:45 at the "Via del Mare."
How will Allegri set his team?
According to Corriere dello Sport, there aren’t many choices upfront: Santiago Gimenez will once again start alongside Christian Pulisic in place of the Portuguese forward. However, the tactical setup could change. The ex Juventus coach is reportedly considering a 3-5-2 disguised as a 4-2-3-1:
"In front of Maignan, would operate Tomori or De Winter, along with Gabbia, Pavlovic, and Estupiñan. In midfield, the pivot would be Youssouf Fofana paired with Ardon Jashari in his natural role as a double pivot. Up front, el Bebote would be supported by Alexis Saelemaekers on the right, the aforementioned Christian Pulisic on the left, and Luka Modric in the attacking midfield role," writes the newspaper."
The dynamic is straightforward: in attack, the 4-2-3-1 would be maintained, while in defense the shift to a 3-5-2 comes almost naturally, with the right-back moving inward, Saelemaekers dropping back as a wide midfielder, and Modric slightly retreating to a mezzala position.
