Peppe Di Stefano, reporting live for Sky Sport 24 as usual from Milanello, spoke about Milan’s current form and above all the impact Massimiliano Allegri has had on the club.
Di Stefano’s words:
“Milan has been completely transformed by Max Allegri. On July 8 I told you about this change in habits, one in particular: in the Sala del Camino, where Berlusconi used to hold those informal press conferences with the media, there is now a single square table with 22 seats, the same number as the players in the squad. That was Allegri’s idea, not to have the usual tables of six or eight but to put everyone in the same spot to improve the team’s bond. They are all players of different nationalities, French and English are the main languages, but the instruction from Allegri was to speak Italian. The coach has changed the rhythm at Milanello and especially on the pitch, to give back certainty. He simplified Milan’s world: fixed training times, rest days granted whether you win or lose, a consistent workload with many double sessions that had not been seen at Milan for a long time.”
Di Stefano continued to talk about Allegri and Milan:
“A culture of work has returned, one that seemed lost. Results came immediately, and what makes the Milan world happiest is not the five wins this season but the fact the team has regained awareness of what it once was. It’s similar to what was said last year about Antonio Conte at Napoli. Allegri is the absolute leader at Milanello, he decides and commands. One anecdote, on the first day of training camp, he gathered the squad and all the staff at Milanello and said: ‘I am the first to laugh and joke, but I ask for seriousness during training, maximum punctuality, and to sweat for the shirt even in training.’”
