Matteo Gabbia spoke to DAZN after Atalanta vs Milan ended 1-1. His words:
A feedback on the match?
"Honestly, we need to analyze the whole evening. We said it in the dressing room, in the first half we should have done better technically in building up play. The number of technical errors was too high for the kind of players we are. The second half was better, we created more organized actions. The team stayed united in both phases. Credit also goes to the opponent. Our path must continue, this match doesn’t leave us happy. We’ve raised our own standards, we have big expectations for ourselves. We’ll do everything to improve and get back to winning. This team has great potential in both players and staff. For that reason, we are eager to do well. Of course, you can’t win every match, but we must always give 100%. We need to recover, improve, and work calmly but with strong determination to have a great season. Today’s draw leaves a bitter taste but also many points to work on."
On defensive compactness, Gabbia said:
"It’s definitely the result of great work from the staff and the coach, who deserves credit for fixing many things. There’s still room for improvement, conceding goals doesn’t make us happy. We need to get back to keeping clean sheets. The midfielders and forwards give us big support, helping us stay compact as a unit. It’s thanks to everyone that we are conceding fewer chances than in previous years."
