Davide Bartesaghi spoke to DAZN after the 0-1 victory against Inter. It was his first derby as a starter in senior football.
Here are his words:
"First derby with the senior team? I am very happy and very honored, it’s a dream I’ve had since I was little. I told myself this was my chance, I had to make the most of every ball and give 100% for this shirt.”
You are taking the starting spot:
“I never imagined it, but there is a staff and a team that give me a lot of confidence. I am very calm, very relaxed, I do my duty and I am available to everyone.”
With Roma in difficulty, and you bounced back, today you looked comfortable…
“There are different matches in a league. With Roma I struggled at the start, but we reacted well, it means we are a team and we help each other: it’s not taken for granted.”
How much did Serie C with Milan Futuro help you?
“It was very important, it helped me in several areas, especially managing the pressure of the stadiums, even in Serie C there are strong teams. It was very important, it didn’t go as we hoped, but in the end the project is what it is and we gave our maximum effort.”
Do you dream of the national team? Bartesaghi replied:
“It’s the biggest dream I have, but to try to make it reality you need calm and a clear mind. I will give my best for Milan and for a call-up.”
A year ago, did you imagine you would be a starter in a derby? Were you aware of this possibility?
“No, I didn’t expect it within a year. Thanks to my teammates and the Milan Futuro project, I managed to fulfill this dream. I have to thank all the staff, all the coaches, all the teammates. I always worked with a calm mind even when results didn’t come. I have nothing to lose and everything to prove, the results are in my hands.”
