After a very inconsistent start to the season, Lazio is now experiencing a period of renewed confidence, with the Biancocelesti earning 15 points in their last eight matches, climbing the league table.
The schedule over the next two fixtures puts Milan on Sarri’s path: first in the league, Saturday night at San Siro, then at the Olimpico in eight days for the Coppa Italia round of 16. Yet there is a midfield emergency at Formello, because after Rovella’s injury, Danilo Cataldi is also forced to stop.
Il Messaggero, a Rome-based daily, writes today about the situation in Lazio’s midfield:
"Cataldi and Guendouzi, Lazio in emergency."
The subtitle clarifies the details, distinguishing the two:
"The playmaker is strained, out for at least 20 days: only Vecino is available to replace him against Milan. The Frenchman is on a caution and risks missing Bologna. The reintegration of Dele is under evaluation."
Without Rovella and Cataldi, neither Saturday nor next Thursday, Sarri will have to act: alongside Toma Basic and Guendouzi, Matias Vecino is expected on the field, and an attempt will be made to reintegrate Dele-Bashiru into the squad.
