Andriy Shevchenko, former Milan striker and still a strong supporter, spoke to SportMediaset during the Finals of the World Legends Padel Tour. The former Rossonero discussed yesterday’s match against Lazio and shared his thoughts on Allegri, as well as on Leao and Maignan, who are key figures in Milan’s strong start to the season. Here are his words.
On yesterday’s win against Lazio:
“Milan are getting strong results in the fight for the title, but it is still early to say. Another good win against Lazio, the team showed in the second half that matches like this bring focus and energy. Allegri has created a good atmosphere. The short-nose approach? Max has great experience, everyone knows what he brings when you choose him. He manages the dressing room well, he presents his idea of football well, he knows what he wants from the players. The fans are pushing the team and the team are flying.”
Shevchenko, what do you think of Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan:
"I think Maignan has done great things, also with the national team. He is strong in every area, he has quality with his feet and in the build-up. Leao is surprising everyone, he took on a new role. With Allegri’s transition-based football, he is doing well in my opinion. He scored against Lazio too. He still needs to learn some movements because this is not his natural role, he needs some time to adapt."
The importance of the Coppa Italia:
"Every match is important. Since the team are not playing in Europe, the Coppa gives more space to those who are not getting many minutes, but Allegri will aim to win everything he can. Milan have confidence right now, they need to keep going."
