Yesterday afternoon Milan departed from Malpensa to reach Riyadh, host city of the 2025 Italian Super Cup, and Santiago Gimenez and Matteo Gabbia were not on the plane.
As for Gabbia, injured to his knee on Sunday during the league match against Sassuolo, the Italian defender stayed at Milanello for treatment, with one clear hope. If the Rossoneri beat Napoli tomorrow evening and his condition improves, a flight ticket might be arranged so he joins his teammates ahead of the final.
The Tuttosport newspaper reports this today and adds one more detail. In tomorrow’s semifinal against Antonio Conte’s Napoli, the center of Milan’s three man defense will feature Koni De Winter, flanked by the usual Fikayo Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic.
