Adrien Rabiot spoke to Mediaset after this evening’s Napoli–Milan match. These were the Frenchman’s words:
A Milan struggling without Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez…
“No, I don’t think so. It’s not as if Gimenez had been here for the last month. We scored even when Leao wasn’t there. It’s not about missing players. We need to rediscover the compactness and solidity we’ve lost a bit in recent matches. We were a little too light defensively. We created chances and weren’t able to score. We need to do better, you don’t get ten chances in a game. But we need to stay calm. It’s disappointing because we could have been competing for a trophy, but we have to remain calm because we’re doing well in the league and we need to get back to playing well.”
On the foul on Politano and the refereeing, Rabiot commented:
“There’s nothing to say, it wasn’t a red card. The referee could have done much better, and it’s not just in this match but in many matches. I’m not talking only about Milan, I watch the other games too. It’s disappointing because at the moment they’re not doing well. But this match wasn’t the referee’s fault, it depended on us. We could have done much better and we weren’t able to win it. It can happen over a season, it’s not the end of the world. In the league we’re doing well. The players are disappointed, but we have to switch immediately to the league, which is a good competition and we’re performing well. We need to keep working and growing, there are young players who are learning. You grow like this too. The season is long, we’re calm.”
