Thanks to yesterday’s win against Hellas Verona at San Siro, Milan remain second in the table, one point behind leaders Inter and one point ahead of third-placed Napoli. The Rossoneri have returned to winning against a lower-ranked side and did so without conceding a goal, but there are still issues to sort out. It remains to be seen whether help could come from the transfer market where, after signing Fullkrug, the priority is now to bring in a central defender. This was reported this morning by Corriere della Sera in this morning's print edition.
The profile of the defender Milan are looking for is now clear: a versatile player, able to operate both as a centre-back and as a wide centre-back, preferably on loan or at a low cost, similar to the Fullkrug deal.
The club are assessing young players or those already proven in Serie A and Europe, who fit Allegri’s system and help extend the rotation without weighing too heavily on the budget. It would be a deal based on balance rather than reputation, aimed at completing the Rossoneri puzzle ahead of the second half of the season.
