The Italian newspaper Tuttosport leads this morning with the headline:
"Modric, the complete midfielder is already among Milan’s greats."
From day one, Massimiliano Allegri handed the keys of his Milan to the Croatian midfielder, who arrived in the summer on a free transfer after his contract with Real Madrid expired, and he has not disappointed expectations.
Much of Milan’s play flows through his feet, and it is no coincidence that he ranks first in Serie A for both attempted and completed passes. But in his first season in Italy, Modric, thanks to his vast experience and excellent positional sense, has also proved to be a top ball-winner.
A few days ago, speaking to Corriere della Sera in an interview, Modric said: "Is it true that I was a Milan fan as a child? Yes, it’s true. I supported Milan because of the hero of my childhood: Zvonimir Boban, the captain of Croatia who came close to a historic achievement at the 1998 World Cup in France. Life always surprises you. Things happen that you would never have believed possible. I was convinced I would end my career at Real Madrid, instead… But I have always thought this: if I ever had another team, it would be Milan. I am here to win."
