Igli Tare, Milan’s sporting director, spoke to DAZN in the pre-match buildup to Fiorentina–Milan. Here are his full comments.
On reaching the halfway point of the season and whether he expected this Milan, and if the Scudetto can be considered a target:
“The league table reflects this, we are in a positive moment. We had a first half of the season with important results. There is still a lot to improve, but we are confident. From now until the end, we need to make as few mistakes as possible.”
On Mike Maignan’s contract renewal:
“The relationship with Mike is excellent, and he likes the Milan project. He wants to stay, but until there is the green light we still have to wait a bit. I am confident that in the end common sense will find the right path. He would be a very important piece for this team and for the future project.”
On Jashari starting today for the first time, Tare commented:
“He is a player in whom we have high expectations. Last season he showed important performances and quality plays. He suffered an injury at the start of the season that kept him out for four months. For the past two months he has been doing very well, he has recovered, and he played two matches in the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa, showing that he belongs at a club like Milan. Therefore, we look ahead with confidence. He will be an important piece for Milan’s future.”
On Nkunku’s return and whether he will stay at Milan:
“He is a Milan player, and we are happy that he is still a Milan player.”
