Luka Modric continues to defy time and redefine the limits of longevity in top-level football. At 40, the Croatian midfielder is currently the oldest player to have already provided three assists in the five major European leagues this season. This statistic speaks more clearly than any words about his ability to remain decisive at 40.
His name also joins a select historical club in Serie A. Since this data has been tracked, starting from the 2004/05 season, Modric is only the second player to provide at least two assists in a single season after turning 40. The only other player to achieve this was Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2021/22, when he reached three assists.
