The sports daily on newsstands this morning headlines:
"Milan at Max. Top European-level consistency. But few backups: summit a mirage."
The Rossoneri have gone 21 consecutive Serie A matches without defeat and currently hold the longest unbeaten run among the top five European leagues. Despite this, they sit second in the standings, five points behind leaders Inter.
The gap is not insurmountable, both because many matches remain and because Inter will play more games, competing in both the Champions League and Coppa Italia, which could cost them points along the way. Allegri's Milan, however, must shift gears and string together a strong series of wins to close the gap. Help from the transfer market would be useful, as there are few alternatives at the level of the starters, but all indications suggest the squad will remain unchanged through the end of the season.
