Franco Ordine, in his editorial on Milannews.it, spoke about Milan’s transfer market as follows:
"I sense a certain restlessness as the winter transfer window approaches its close. Nothing spectacular, mind you, because this is an extremely cash-strapped window with very few deals being completed. However, I do notice that something is moving when it comes to the defender issue at Milan. I am not referring to Gila, who could eventually be classified as a deal for next July–August 2026, but rather to a few leads, such as Aké, that have emerged in recent hours.
I reaffirm here my underlying idea: Allegri is right when he argues that either you manage to bring in a real ‘help’ for the current squad, or, if it is a second- or third-choice option, it is better to let it go and avoid disrupting the current dressing-room balance. A defender is needed, though, and to be honest there would also need to be a more reliable alternative than Athekame to allow Saelemaekers to rest, as he has been carrying the load so far and has recently shown some signs of physical wear.”
