The Curva Sud Milano will not display a choreography at tonight’s derby, and sadly this has become a habit over the past two years. Contrary to some rumors that circulated this morning, the Rossoneri ultras did not give up on presenting one. Quite simply, nothing was prepared. Here are the facts.
Derby choreography: what really happened
Let us go step by step through the timeline, because it is only fair to clarify the situation. The full request, complete with renderings, had been submitted to the club several weeks ago. The clear goal was to obtain written authorization immediately so preparations could begin, which, as everyone knows, require weeks of work and a significant financial commitment, writes Milan News.
The approval from the relevant officials (with partial reservations about the content), despite several reminders sent by the supporters to the club, arrived only in the middle of this week. That delay made the production of the choreography effectively impossible. In other words, the Curva did not choose to give up displaying a choreography. Rather, the Rossoneri Curva was simply not placed in the conditions that would allow them to prepare one, which is quite a different matter.
That said, despite everything, the Sud will not fail to provide vocal support to the coach and the team in what has always been the most important match of the season. The same happened in the first derby of the season, when the 'Sodalizio Rossonero' banner was banned just a few hours before kickoff and only authorized a month later.
Choreography in the rest of the stadium: what is happening
In this climate of constant restrictions and absurd rules that seem to apply only at San Siro, something unprecedented in nearly 60 years of history has occurred. The club has required AIMC to leave space for a choreography organized by AC Milan itself, which will color those sections. According to the information available to us, the club informed the Milan Clubs in the second orange tier that displaying their banners is prohibited. A decision that could potentially create another troubling precedent.
