According to CalcioMercato, the National Anti-Doping Court had indicted Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini, but cleared him of his charges today. Gasperini was accused of "insulting an inspector during a surprise check-up". The manager allegedly railed against the entire anti-doping system, and interrupted an ongoing test of a player, and forced that player to go train during said check-up.
Today, Gasperini appeared virtually for the hearing, and was cleared of any charges or punishment. The manager was risking up to 20 days of disqualification, which would have seen him missing the remaining matches of the season, including the finale against Milan. Instead, Gasperini will be with his boys for the remainder of the season. If there were to be any punishment at this point, it would likely take affect next season.
Milan is currently tied with Atalanta on points, but Gasperini's men hold the tie breaker with a 3-0 victory against the Rossoneri. Both clubs are poised to claim a Champions League bid, and if Milan are to capture 6 points in their next two matches, the season finale against Atalanta will be nothing more than a formality in terms of a UCL fight. Regardless of what is at stake in that match, it appears that Atalanta will in fact have their manager with them on the sidelines.
