Mattia Liberali, interviewed by GOAL, spoke about his debut for Milan as a starter against Genoa at San Siro:
“I found out from coach Fonseca, of course, he told me during the week. He asked me to stay calm and to play the way I always have. I had dreamed of San Siro since I was a child; then you find yourself in front of 80,000 people, it’s an emotion that’s hard to describe. The jersey from that night is at home, framed. My whole family came to the stadium, it was incredible, they’re all fans.”
On his relationship with Fonseca:
“I will never stop thanking him; he gave me a huge opportunity. He gave me freedom and peace of mind, which not everyone is able to give. Who else at Milan helped me? Definitely Florenzi, he immediately took me under his wing, but also many others, from Gabbia to Calabria. They’re all players who helped me, all champions.”
