Tuttosport: Allegri wants to unlock his strikers during the break

At the moment, AC Milan’s squad boasts no fewer than five forwards. Of these, on Easter Monday, when they will play against Napoli at the Maradona Stadium, the player who will have scored most recently is Rafael Leão, who will be coming off a 36-day goal drought.

The Portuguese winger did not join up with the national team during the international break due to a minor injury that forced him to miss last Sunday’s match against Torino. More generally, almost the entire attacking department remained at Milanello during the break. The only forward who left was Christian Pulisic, while Füllkrug, Giménez, and Nkunku all stayed behind along with Leão.

Given the team’s struggles to make an impact this season (especially in recent weeks) the fact that four-fifths of the attacking unit stayed in Milan could prove to be a valuable opportunity for Allegri, who can now carry out focused, tailored work with them, as it is the only department that is nearly complete.

This is also the view of Tuttosport, which this morning ran the headline:

"Allegri wants to unlock his strikers."

In the article’s introduction, it reads: "Special training work with the attacking unit: the only one away on international duty is Pulisic." And further on Rafael Leao:

"Leão will undergo therapy for a week: his goal is to be fit for the match against Napoli."
