Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking on Sky Sport, gave this update on Leon Goretzka, a midfielder who will leave Bayern Munich on a free at the end of the season and who has long been on Milan’s radar:
"Several clubs have made moves, including Milan and Juventus. What I can say is that the Rossoneri are pushing very hard. Milan are moving forward because they consider the German the ideal reinforcement to strengthen a midfield that is already strong. Clearly, until there are final agreements and signatures, it is always better to remain cautious, especially when we are talking about this type of player whose contract is expiring. However, the signals coming through are positive; Milan are the team furthest ahead and want to get this deal done."
"It is an ambitious signal and also suggests that the club intends to continue with Max Allegri, who rates Goretzka very highly and already wanted him during his time at Juventus, but there was never the opportunity to sign him. Now the German has decided not to renew with Bayern Munich and to try a new adventure; we will see whether Allegri will manage to coach him this time."
