On Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto spoke about the Goretzka–Milan deal. These were his words:
“Allegri and Goretzka have been speaking for weeks. Goretzka has been in talks with Milan for more than a month; he has spoken with everyone within the club’s management. He has spoken both with Allegri, clearly, who is a key figure, and with the sporting side, meaning Igli Tare. He has spoken with Giorgio Furlani; he has spoken with everyone."

"The German wants to make his decision once things are settled; he wants to see whether Milan will qualify for the Champions League. The Champions League is fundamental because he wants to continue competing to win; he wants to reach the end of his career with motivation and drive."
Moretto continued to discuss Goretzka's future:
"I believe that in the coming days, starting from next week, Leon will understand exactly what the key points and fixed elements of the new Milan will be, and then he will say yes or no. So, let’s say we are still at this stage; there is no final decision yet, but we are getting closer.”
