Rumours about Milan’s future are everywhere, in fact, there have been countless reports in recent weeks. For this reason as well, the Rossoneri squad decided to go into a training retreat at Milanello for a few days in order to prepare in the best possible way for the final match of the season against Cagliari, a decisive game for the Devil’s qualification for the Champions League. It is no secret that, for the club on Via Aldo Rossi, finishing in the top four is essential, and so Gerry Cardinale will once again be alongside Max Allegri’s team, which tomorrow at San Siro against the Sardinians is playing not only for the present, but also for the future.
Three names to replace Furlani:
As Corriere della Sera explained this morning, the head of RedBird, unlike on other occasions when he attended one of Milan’s matches at the stadium, is not expected to leave immediately after the game. Instead, there is a feeling that he could stay a few days in Milan to speak with the various figures involved around the Rossoneri world. One of the most anticipated meetings is undoubtedly the one with Giorgio Furlani, who is close to leaving, so much so that a search is already underway to find Milan’s new chief executive officer: Giovanni Carnevali, the current CEO of Sassuolo, and Adriano Galliani, former CEO of the Rossoneri club for more than thirty years, are leading candidates, while Claudio Fenucci, a Bologna executive, is considered a secondary option.
Other meetings:
Cardinale will then of course also speak with sporting director Igli Tare, who had seemed certain to leave Milan. However, after attending last Sunday’s match in Genoa, the Rossoneri owner had the opportunity to see inside the dressing room just how united the squad is and how much support has formed around the leadership of the technical area, namely Max Allegri and Tare himself. There is also great curiosity about Zlatan Ibrahimović’s future. Contrary to what had been written and said in recent weeks, he is not expected to broaden his role in Milan’s activities in Italy, but he could become more involved in commercial projects aimed at developing the brand. In any case, Cardinale will make every decision only after the Cagliari match, because first there is a Champions League qualification that must be secured at all costs.
