Regarding the ongoing search for the role of new AC Milan chief executive to replace the departing Giorgio Furlani, today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport carries the following headline this morning:
"The Galliani option is gaining momentum. Fenucci and Carnevali are the alternatives on the table."
For Adriano Galliani, it would represent a return, given that he already held that position for 31 years during the era of Silvio Berlusconi. Certainly cheering for his return to Milan is Massimiliano Allegri: in 2010, it was Galliani who first brought the ex Juventus coach to the Milan bench, and the two share a sincere and deep friendship.
The other candidates in the running to replace Furlani are the current CEOs of US Sassuolo Calcio and Bologna FC 1909, namely Giovanni Carnevali and Claudio Fenucci. The former has managed to deliver significant sporting and financial results for the Neroverdi club in recent years. The latter, meanwhile, guided the Rossoblù to a historic qualification for the UEFA Champions League two seasons ago.
