After the Luxembourg–Italy match, narrowly won by the Azzurri thanks to a goal from Pio Esposito, Davide Bartesaghi spoke exclusively to MilanNews.it and answered a number of questions put to him by colleague Alessandro Schiavone.
Milan failed to achieve its objective:
"Of course it's disappointing because it was a goal we had set ourselves at the start of the season. Football leaves wounds, and now we have to focus everything on next year."
What happened against Cagliari?
"It was a difficult match. Perhaps we got our approach wrong, but we can't go back and change it. We're very disappointed."
Were you disappointed by Allegri's departure?
"Of course. He's a coach I respect, just like the entire staff. I wish him all the best."
What has been your secret?
"Working hard, staying calm mentally, and continuing to do my job."
Will Leão be missed at Milan?
"I care about him a lot. If he feels it's right to move elsewhere, I don't see why he shouldn't."
Where can Bartesaghi improve?
"I still have a lot to improve. It's my first year in senior football, and little by little I'm achieving what I set out to do, but with even bigger goals for the coming seasons."
Aiming for a second star and a good Europa League campaign?
"First we have to start again, heal our wounds, and then we'll see what happens."
