Francesco Letizia, a journalist, expressed the following views on his YouTube channel regarding AC Milan's decisions in recent hours, both on and off the pitch:
"It is important to keep our feet on the ground after the disappointments of recent years, but we must be objective: only two years ago, Ruben Amorim was considered a top-class coach, a rising star, and therefore he deserves respect and trust. Those who dismiss him because of his failure at Manchester United may perhaps not remember Luis Enrique's time at Roma: in a coach's development, everything is educational, including disappointments. Besides, at this time last year, Allegri was being chosen as a guarantee of results, and those results never came. Therefore, all things considered, the Amorim appointment is at least technically stimulating and ambitious. Acknowledging that does not mean washing away Cardinale's sins; it simply means being intellectually honest."
"Those who know and have studied the Amorim dossier well," Letizia explains, "express some doubts only about his tactical dogmatism: he is a coach so convinced of his ideas that he would rather go down with his philosophy than stay afloat through a convenient compromise. As for his strengths, there is certainly his ability to work with young players and his obsessive attention to every detail. In Italy, only Fabregas works in this way, and from that point of view the comparison is appropriate.
Amorim won't make Milan competitive immediately...
"However, there is no need to emphasise how important it is to support him and allow him to work. After three matches, he could have three or four points, and that will be the first real test for everyone, from the ownership to the supporters. Projects like these must be assessed over the medium to long term. If we think Amorim will make Milan competitive immediately, we are simply fooling ourselves. But at the very least, even if the disappointments remain the same, people will leave San Siro a little less bored by technical and tactical mediocrity."
