Giovanni Malagò, the new president of the FIGC, gave a long interview to la Repubblica in which he also spoke about who he would like as Italy’s technical director. His words were: "I would like a former footballer, but I have not spoken to anyone about specific roles. I keep in touch with Paolo Maldini, I met Alessandro Del Piero, I embraced Roberto Baggio and I have heard from Gianluigi Buffon, but nothing is decided."
Another very hot topic is the new head coach of the Italian national team. Malagò revealed the kind of coach he is looking for: "The essential requirement is to immediately see enthusiasm, the conviction of embracing an idea. It must not be done only for money. The financial aspect certainly exists, but if someone starts setting too many limits on schedules or availability, they could be the best in the world but I am not interested. I need someone fully committed for at least the next two years. A foreign coach? Never say never."
