Sandro Tonali is departing for London where he will undergo the customary medical examinations before becoming a new Tottenham player, with the club set to pay 116 million euros, including fixed fee and bonuses, into Newcastle’s accounts. Upon his arrival at Malpensa before boarding the plane, the former Milan midfielder, who will become the most expensive Italian player of all time, gave these remarks to the journalists present:
"I am very happy. We have decided to make a change and I am ready for this new adventure."
Tonali also commented on the possible arrival of Paolo Maldini in the national team as the new technical director:
"We have not yet spoken, but it would be a great emotion to work with him again," as relayed via Milan News.
On his possible return to Italy, the former Rossoneri player explained:
"To date it has always been difficult. There has never been an opportunity to return to Italy. Is my dream to return to Milan one day? We joke about it all the time, but I think that if one day there is the opportunity, we will speak about it seriously."
