In recent days, Mike Maignan has come under criticism from fans after requesting (and being granted) some extra time off by Milan. The French goalkeeper, along with Adrien Rabiot, was originally expected to return to Milanello yesterday, but will now only do so on Sunday, just one week before the Rossoneri’s Serie A opener against Torino. Will Maignan be an immediate starter?
That is also the question 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' is asking this morning. The newspaper explains that much will depend on the Frenchman’s physical condition. Maignan has, of course, continued to work while on holiday, but his fitness will need to be assessed as soon as he returns to Milanello. If he is not ready to start from the outset, it will be the young Lorenzo Torriani who takes his place between the posts for Milan against Torino, as Pietro Terracciano has only recently returned to training following an injury.
