Milan will play their final pre-season friendly today at 16:45 against Manchester United, a match in which Mario Gila should return to action.
Gila returns to the squad:
The Spanish centre-back picked up an injury during Milan’s first pre-season test against Celtic and subsequently missed the matches against Inter and Chelsea. However, he has now returned to Ruben Amorim’s squad for today’s game, as relayed via Milan Press.
This is excellent news, particularly as Matteo Gabbia will miss today’s match through injury and Amorim has decided to leave Fikayo Tomori out of the squad as he looks set to leave the club.
Will he start?
Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport also reports that the former Lazio defender could potentially start, although it appears more likely that he will not be risked from the opening minute.
He is expected to get some playing time in the second half, and after another week of training, he could potentially earn a starting spot for Milan’s opening Serie A match against Torino.
