Milan’s transfer activity continues, but the club could already be looking towards the future. According to ge.globo.com, Atlanta United, Betis, Milan, Newcastle, Ajax, Sporting and Wolverhampton are all interested in Álvaro Montoro, the 2007-born left winger from Botafogo.
There had been reports of potential offers of around €20 million for the Argentine, but the club currently wants to keep him. For this reason, he could become a target for Milan in the upcoming transfer windows. Montoro was signed from Vélez Sarsfield for $9 million. With Botafogo, he has made 59 appearances, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.
What kind of player is Álvaro Montoro?
Álvaro Montoro is an Argentine footballer born on 17 April 2007 who can play both as an attacking midfielder and as a playmaker. His stronger foot is his right.
He is a player blessed with outstanding technical ability. He is very good at dribbling and in one-on-one situations, while he is also capable of creating chances for his teammates thanks to his excellent passing and vision. He can be deployed either as a traditional playmaker behind the forwards or as a left-sided attacker in a front three. Born in 2007, he still has enormous room for improvement, as relayed via Pianeta Milan.
From Milan’s perspective, he could be an investment for the future. As mentioned, Montoro still has plenty of room to develop, and his valuation can only increase over time. In Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system, he could play as the left attacking midfielder, using his stronger right foot to cut inside, shoot and cross. On top of that, he is excellent in tight spaces and in one-on-one situations, all qualities that the Portuguese coach wants from his attacking midfielders.
