Milan are already having to deal with their first absences during the opening official matches of the season. Italian centre-back Matteo Gabbia is a doubt for Sunday evening’s 8:45pm away match against Juventus after suffering a recurrence of the ankle problem that had already prevented him from taking part in the final pre-season friendly against Manchester United. It is no coincidence that Fikayo Tomori has been reinstated: Gabbia’s setback has allowed the Englishman to return to the fold.
This morning, Tuttosport ran the following headline:
"The doubt. Gabbia still has ankle problems."
Yesterday, the Italian defender worked separately in the gym, clearly reducing his chances of being called up for Sunday evening’s trip. At the same time, Fikayo Tomori took part in his first full team training session in weeks, having been excluded from the squad.
