AC Milan's central defender, Koni De Winter, who started in the 0-2 loss at San Siro against Benfica, spoke to the media in a press conference.
Why did you have the same attitude in the first half as in Rome? De Winter replied:
“When we have the ball, we give it away too easily. We lost confidence. They scored early, then defended with many players and we found it difficult to score."
Do you have a clear understanding of what Amorim is asking of you?
“We have faith in the coach’s ideas, but we need more patience when things aren’t going well, playing the ball and trying to make the right plays at the right moment. There’s no need to get angry. We are all angry because we lost the game, but we are still at the beginning of the season. So we have faith, and these defeats can also help us grow," said the AC Milan player.
What does Amorim ask of you when you have the ball at your feet?
“The coach gives us a foundation, but then it’s up to us on the pitch to add intensity and creativity to create attacking chances. That’s what we’re lacking a little at the moment.”
