No training session and no pre-match press conference: Luka Modrić cancelled yesterday’s scheduled commitments because of a fever. Despite feeling unwell, he still travelled with Croatia to Prague, where they will face the Czech Republic this evening in the opening round of the Nations League.

Croatia’s new head coach, Bilić, provided an update on the AC Milan midfielder’s condition: "Luka had a fever. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning [today]. We will field the strongest possible team; for now, our only focus is on the Czech Republic."
The international schedule is particularly demanding as well. During this break from club football, Croatia are also due to face Spain, England and then Spain again, as relayed via Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition.
Modrić was already expected to have his workload carefully managed, in coordination between the player and the coaching staff, and that will be even more important following his recent fever. The schedule will remain extremely demanding once he returns to Milan, with matches every three days across the domestic league and the Europa League.
