Milan have set their sights on Owen Emeka, the talented Granada youngster. A Rossoneri scout watched the match between Granada and Albacete in the Segunda División, Spain’s second tier, live on September 12. Emeka, a left-footed forward born in 2009 who plays on the right wing in Pacheta’s 4-3-3, started the game and also scored Granada’s goal in the final 1-1 draw.
It was almost a record-breaking goal: at 17 years, 4 months and 23 days old, Emeka became the second-youngest goalscorer in the club’s history.
The 2009-born player is a product of Granada’s academy. Registered with Recreativo Granada, the club’s B team, he was involved with the first team during pre-season before earning a permanent place in the senior squad. So far, he has made six league appearances, three of them as a starter.
Emeka is a talent attracting interest from more than just Milan. In fact, Real Madrid, who are accustomed to recruiting from Granada’s youth system — in August, they signed 20-year-old Naasei for their B team and brought in 19-year-old Zinbi on loan — also wanted to secure Emeka during the last transfer window, only to receive a firm rejection.
Now Milan have joined the race for the player and could look to get ahead of the competition by making their move as early as January.
