Rumours of Milan’s strong interest in Endrick, the 2006-born Real Madrid striker, are showing no signs of going away. The Brazilian was already close to joining the Rossoneri in the summer, when Cardinale personally stepped in to try to get the deal over the line. At the time, however, Mourinho, the Blancos coach, wanted to keep the player, which brought everything to a halt.
In January, though, the situation could reopen, as Matteo Moretto explains in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, (relayed via Milannews).
“Endrick was on Milan’s radar this summer, and Alexandre Pato also confirmed this recently. I can guarantee you that Milan did not merely try to sign him. The club had actually reached a basic agreement with the player, who had two offers from Italy on the table this summer, one from Roma and one from Milan. Real Madrid, or more precisely José Mourinho, wanted to keep the player because he believes in the youngster. He conveyed to him his desire to give him playing time and minutes. But then they did not follow through on those words: Endrick has played very little at the start of this season, almost like a ghost in Madrid, and has not found his place. The player is looking around, which is why these rumours about Endrick’s future are now resurfacing, along with the possibility of him joining Milan in January on loan.
I can tell you that Milan are still interested, just as Roma are still interested. Endrick’s agency, Roc Nation, has an excellent relationship with Cardinale. Roc Nation also held several talks with Roma in the summer, particularly regarding Inter’s Luis Henrique. Cardinale nevertheless has a different kind of rapport with Roc Nation, with a particular connection stemming from their American roots. These are also cultural factors. We will understand further down the line what kind of path Endrick wants to take. He has opened the door to Milan, just as he did in the summer. He has also opened the door to Roma. We will also have to see what happens with Real Madrid, and we know how good the relationship between Real and Milan is, given the many deals they have completed over the years. We will see, and we will keep you updated regarding Endrick.”
