Following the draw at the Mapei Stadium against Sassuolo, there is disappointment within the Milan camp, including at the highest levels of the club, and understandably so. However, as Peppe Di Stefano reports, Gerry Cardinale’s faith in Amorim remains firmly intact.
The Portuguese coach was appointed in the summer and is certainly not under threat after his first three months at Milan, with pre-season training having begun on 13 July. Results obviously matter, particularly at a club like Milan, but the Rossoneri’s new project with Amorim at the helm is still in its early stages, and the coach retains the club’s full confidence.
When it comes to the club’s hierarchy, thoughts also turn to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a Senior Advisor to RedBird rather than a fully-fledged Milan executive. The Swede has been a less frequent presence around Milanello recently, but his involvement in the Rossoneri project remains unchanged, according to Peppe Di Stefano on Sky Sport 24:
“There is no news regarding Ibrahimovic. He is and remains a RedBird executive, and he is and remains one of Cardinale’s men. He has never been a Milan executive. His direct involvement at Milanello over the past few months has been limited to just one appearance, but his involvement within RedBird remains unchanged. He is one of Cardinale’s trusted men and is therefore indirectly involved in the Rossoneri world as well.”
