David Alaba will have to stop immediately due to injury after his first appearance in a Serie A match wearing the Udinese shirt.
Named in the starting line-up by coach Kosta Runjaic for Sunday's 3-0 home defeat against Lecce at lunchtime, the 34-year-old Austrian defender, formerly of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, was replaced at half-time by the young Italian-German Matteo Palma.
Alaba will certainly miss at least the next home fixture scheduled for Sunday evening against Milan, as relayed via Calcio Mercato.
Udinese's official statement regarding Alaba's physical issue:
"Udinese Calcio announces that David Alaba has suffered muscular discomfort in his right calf. The player has already begun his rehabilitation programme and will be assessed weekly."
