The serious injury that will force Matteo Gabbia to remain out of action for several months has officially put the management on alert ahead of the winter transfer window. The latest transfer rumours surrounding AC Milan point to a surprise name for Rúben Amorim’s defence: Daniele Ghilardi, an Italian centre-back born in 2003 who currently plays for Roma, is generating discussion among fans who follow the club’s every move through a range of platforms, including those exploring the best casino bonuses in South Africa while staying updated on the Rossoneri’s recruitment plans at the same time.
The profile of the young Giallorossi centre-back was put forward by transfer expert Matteo Moretto during a video appearance on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel. The journalist confirmed that the 2003-born defender has concretely ended up on the shortlist of the men at Via Aldo Rossi for the transfer window, which will officially open on 28 December.
Moretto announces "Ghilardi to Milan, he has the ideal profile"
The limited playing time he has found so far in the capital could favour a swift deal in the coming months. Ghilardi has in fact accumulated just 144 minutes on the pitch, spread across four appearances in Serie A. Moretto described the situation at the Rossoneri club as follows:
"Ghilardi is not finding much playing time at Roma and appeals greatly to Milan because he is a young Italian player with excellent potential. He perfectly embodies pretty much all the characteristics of this new Milan led by RedBird, which is always very attentive in the transfer market to this type of player with future potential. So, as things stand today, we are absolutely keeping Ghilardi’s name on the list as well."
Richard Hough, author of 'Verona Campione', released an interview last year talking about Ghilardi's attributes. He had this to say to those at 'Chiesa di Totti':
"He’s fast. Reads the game extremely well and knows how to use his physicality without diving in or making rash challenges. With his long hair and headband he just looks like a classic Italian defender, in the mould of a Nesta. He’s super calm, not a vocal player or one who gets involved in shithousery, so perhaps he can bring that calmness and discipline to Roma’s defence. He’s composed in possession and used to playing in a back three, but will have to get used to Gasperini’s more possession-based and offensive style of play."
Gonçalo Inacio remains in contention: he is Ruben Amorim's favourite:

The Roma defender is obviously not the only case open on the desks of the Rossoneri directors. During his appearance, Moretto did not remove the profile of Gonçalo Inácio from the wish list at all. He is a centre-back born in 2001 and captain of Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese centre-back is a true favourite of Rúben Amorim. It was the current Rossoneri coach himself who launched the Leões’ number 25 into senior football when he was still very young. It is a considerably more expensive operation than Ghilardi, but one that would guarantee an immediate step up in quality and a rapid tactical integration into the coach’s system.
AC Milan transfer market: Le Guen target rued out for January
While Ghilardi is rising in the rankings and Inácio remains in the background, there is one profile that is instead officially being crossed off the list for the winter transfer window. We are talking about Raphaël Le Guen, a promising centre-back born in 2006, originally from Madagascar and currently playing for Brest. Journalist Matteo Moretto clarified the Frenchman’s physical condition, which postpones any discussion until next summer:
- Injury: the player has suffered a serious physical setback and will have to remain sidelined for the next two months.
- Rossoneri strategy: consequently, he is unlikely to represent a concrete target for January, but Milan will continue to monitor him closely ahead of the summer transfer window.
What appears certain is that the AC Milan club will necessarily have to make a decisive move in defence in a few months’ time. Ghilardi is officially putting himself forward as an enticing 'low-cost' opportunity, but one of absolute quality, to strengthen the Diavolo's defence.
