AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim was interviewed by Sky Sport before the Europa League match between his Rossoneri team and Hungarian side Ferencvaros. These are all the words of the Portuguese coach.
Can the enthusiasm from the derby carry the team forward?
“The feelings are positive. It is important to work on the mental aspect. But what matters is the next match: tonight is crucial for us. We have some unavailable players, but to be competitive in all competitions, we must show that all the players can rise to the occasion. There are three important points at stake tonight," said Amorim.
Rabiot is captain tonight…
“Tonight, Mike is not here, Modric is not here, and we need his experience in case something negative happens. We need someone on the pitch who can provide reassurance. Rotations are important to keep everyone fit, but these are not rotations because it is Ferencvaros. We want to win tonight.”
On Diawara playing at centre-back alongside De Winter, Amorim said:
“It is strange to start without Pavlovic; usually, he and De Winter have always played together. It is strange to start without him. But Diawara has shown that he is up to the task, both as a centre-back and as a full-back. Koni is there to help him, although Diawara does not need anyone's help.”
Cristiano Ronaldo announces his retirement from the Portugal national team…
“It was not the best way to end his career with the national team, but what he has done for our country is there for everyone to see. Everyone knows him all over the world. Football is a window, and many people know Portugal because of CR7. He has played with so many important players. He will continue to give something to our country even off the pitch.”
