Sandro Tonali's deal should be completed soon, as various reports have suggested. The player spent a season already on loan at the San Siro. He was not a starter for Stefano Pioli but he served as an alternative to the midfielders.
The ex coach of Sandro Tonali, Roberto Boscaglia, who coached Brescia in the 2017-2018 season granted an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport's microphones. He had this to say about the Italian midfielder:
“Tonali was 17, with long hair, lively eyes. We needed players to make up the numbers and we took him with us. After a couple of workouts I called the ds and told him that I would keep him at any cost. Personality, courage in choices, great technique. He seemed to have been playing for a lifetime."
On Tonali's maturity level:
"There is no better definition. Sandro was already mature, self-confident, humble. I remember we lived in a club house and often dined together. He ate his plate of pasta in silence, quiet, so I started talking to him a little. I took him under my wing, let's say."
On Tonali's move to Milan:
"Sandro needs trust. Coach Pioli was good in this and my compliments go to him. He always defended him. Tonali is Italy's future and I'm sure Mancini will call him up soon after the Euros. The fee to sign Tonali is the minimum amount for a club that wants to focus on young talents, how can you let him slip away?"
On the ideal role for Tonali:
"Play him in a three-man midfield and he will build well. He reads the game well and he is good at retrieving the ball as well. The data we had in Brescia told us that someone like this, in the middle, can play in any position. Even in a two-man midfield like in AC Milan's formation."
