Deadline day was busy for many clubs as they accelerated to conclude some last transfer operations to bolster their respective squads.
Hertha Berlin, in this sense, wanted to make a reinforcement on the right flank and have set their sights on AC Milan's outcast Samu Castillejo.
The German club's CEO, Fredi Bobic, confirmed the failed attempt to sign the Spaniard number 7 of Milan. He said these words to Kicker:
"At 3 pm (on the 31st, ed.) We understood that there is the possibility that the player could be on the market. I know the player, we all knew him. I learned this from some personal contacts. It was all very fast, but there was no time because he should have ended his contract with Milan. In those moments everything must be fine. These are things that can work and sometimes not… To be honest, at 5pm I knew we would never make it."
