Alessio Romagnoli's situation is a tricky one for the AC Milan management. The player used to be a starter in the backline before the arrival of Fikayo Tomori. The team captain, however, is now relegated to sitting on the bench while the former Chelsea defender and Simon Kjaer are regular starters.
To make the situation even harder, the former Roma player also has an expiring contract at the end of the current season.
The Italian captain's future is uncertain with the Rossoneri. But, Lazio have seen this as a good opportunity to seize, reports La Repubblica.
According to the newspaper, Romagnoli will not be renewing his contract with Il Diavolo. He is a life-long Lazio fan, despite having played for Roma in earlier years of his career. Maurizio Sarri, the boss of the Biancocelesi, could therefore expect the player to reinforce his team in view of next season, if an economic agreement is reached.
