AC Milan legendary striker, Andriy Shevchenko, author of many beautiful moments in the red and black shirt, has spoken to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the Rossoneri. Here are his words:
"I was struck by this Milan team being a lively team, with a great pace. A team that is pleasant to watch, plays easily and just as easily manages to build excellent actions. Create, play vertically, always try to control, has many solutions. I like it, he'll be there until the end to try and win the Scudetto."
Shevchenko stressed how remarkable it is that the Rossoneri have shown growth and progress:
"Compared to the last few seasons, they (Milan players) have already grown a lot. They play with more convinction of their strength, they are aggressive, they press, they create. They transmit passion to those who follow them. Pioli has done a great job over the past two years, he has regenerated the team. Maldini was very good: the club made excellent purchases."
On Champions League group:
"The group is the toughest ever. It's not a drama if they leave, not it can never be considered a failure. The team is competitive and has the chance to go through. And then let's also see it from the opponents' side: catching Milan in the fourth pot is bad luck for them."
On Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz, and Mike Maignan
"I like Diaz for how he moves between the lines, he is quick, he receives the ball and turns quickly, he always aims forward. As for Tonali, this can be his year. He showed that he could be an important player, he has enormous margins for growth ahead. He can become a great player. Maignan is also good, you don't win the Scudetto in France in front of PSG by chance."
On Olivier Giroud:
"I like the mix between young players and experienced ones that has been created. Before, a symbol was missing, and Ibra is back. Giroud is also another symbol, he can give a lot to the team and fight for it . If he can play with Ibra? Of course he can. Pioli will find the best solution."
