AC Milan have continued their useful results series in the Serie A with a win at the San Siro against a stubborn Venezia side who tried their best to be compact on the pitch and stifle the Rossoneri attacking threats.
The Rossoneri started with the following lineup using the usual 4-2-3-1 module: Maignan; Kalulu, Gabbia, Romagnoli, Ballo-Touré; Tonali, Bennacer; Florenzi, Diaz, Leao; Rebic.
The first half-time started with Milan doing a lot of attacking efforts to put the ball past Venezia's Finnish goalkeeper, Mäenpää. But, the width and depth of the Venezia defence made it hard for the team to penetrate.
The Rossoneri held the ball well and were in control of the tempo. However, it was clear that Milan lacked more pace and fresh legs. In the second half, Stefano Pioli made the right changes especially thanks to the entry of Alexis Saelemaekers and Theo Hernandez.
The French left-back has finally showed his true qualities for the first time this season as he assisted the first goal to Brahim Diaz. Then, he was the author of the second goal as he secured the win for Il Diavolo.
The game was very difficult, especially at the start of this match. But, quality, experience and calmness prevailed. AC Milan were clearly more superior and deserved the win.
The Rossoneri club now gained 3 precious points and move to being 1st in the standings with Inter. The two city rivals have 13 points now. Napoli is third, however, with 12 points but are missing a game which should be played tomorrow against Sampdoria.
Now, Stefano Pioli can enjoy a well-earned win tonight. But, shortly we must think already of the match against Spezia in 3 days from now.
