Alessio Romagnoli has an expiring contract in June 2022. He did not sign on a new deal just yet and the club would extend his contract only on their terms. For the record, he is the second most paid player in the AC Milan squad.
The player is represented by agent Mino Raiola who is difficult to deal with. As for Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, they have been following the policy of lowering the wages bill, just look at the case of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu as the club refused to overspend to keep the two stars and replaced them with affordable players who are playing well currently. Same thing can happen with Franck Kessié as well (Milan sent him an offer of 5.5 million euros, which has not been accepted yet).
As for Roamgnoli, Milan did not send a proposal so far. The captain knows that it will be very difficult for him to stay at Milanello with the big salary he currently earns.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com, the Rossoneri club intends to send a renewal offer at half the current figures. Then, it will be up to Romagnoli if he wants to accept AC Milan's new contract proposal or not.
