Honrary vice-president of AC Milan and legendary former captain, Franco Baresi, spoke to the club's official channel in view of Milan - Porto fixture in the Champions League:
"It was incredible to win the Champions League and to be able to do it again the following season. It was exciting, it is something that stimulates you. It was a great satisfaction on a technical and professional level. Preparation for Champions League matches is always careful, the atmosphere in that competition was always different. It provides you with another energy."
Baresi spoke about the historic game against Red Star Belgrade:
"That was a fundamental phase, they were two complicated games. We played the second leg with conviction. Then, luck helped us with the fog as we played again in the next day. I remember that we knew we could not make a mistake, they were difficult to beat. I took responsibility for the penalty, as it should be. I kicked with determination."
On the Scudetti triumphs:
"We had an important squad but there was this desire not to disappoint. We were ambitious and in an important club with a great history. 88-95 to win five league titles and make five finals, it means that you have something."
On today's AC Milan:
"In these two years, AC Milan has grown a lot", said Baresi, "We returned to the Champions League after seven years and we were looking forward to this competition. Against Atletico Madrid, if we had stayed in 11 we would never have lost."
