Kakà: “You represent one of the biggest clubs in the world by wearing the Milan shirt”

Ricardo Kakà, AC Milan former legendary player and winner of a Ballon d'Or, granted an interview to the microphones of Milan TV as he said the following:

"Champions League? I remember  above all the music, the people at the stadium. First goal in Bruges? It came at the end on a cross from Cafù, I scored in my own way with what became my classic shot. It was unforgettable. It is much more than what I had dreamed of."

On the Istanbul final with Liverpool:

"The 2005 final was one of the best Champions League matches ever, we lost it. Not winning was very hard because I knew the difficulty of making it to a Champions League final and I was afraid it would never happen again. That game taught me a lot and made me grow both as a person and professionally," said Kakà, "The following year we lost in the semifinals against Barça, those were years of many doubts about being able to win the Champions League again, then the cycle ended in Athens."

On the 2007 final against Liverpool:

"It was the best year of my career in terms of both collective and personal results. I didn't have the goal of being the top scorer, but after Sheva's farewell, Ancelotti put me to play later, and I became a second striker alongside Pippo (Inzaghi). So I managed to become the top scorer in the Champions League, a very difficult thing, but I managed to score ten goals and win the Champions League."

On the current AC Milan squad:

"It was bad to see the Champions League without AC Milan, now, is returning to being a protagonist in Italy and in Europe and they are very very beautiful. This year's experience is very useful for understanding what the Champions League is, I really like the mix of experience and youth because our Milan was like that too. The 'old men' helped us a lot in these matches, it's not easy for young people to face historic stadiums with so many fans and if you don't have support it's very tough. The young players have gained experience, we hope that Milan will return to the Champions League next year and certainly the results will be completely different."

Kakà concluded:

"Wearing the Rossoneri shirt is still special, when I wear it at home, it is beautiful, in the Champions it was even more so because I knew what the Champions League means for all the fans, you were representing one of the biggest clubs in the world by wearing that shirt."
