It's been almost 5 years since Pessina moved from the Rossoneri to Atalanta. The former AC Milan management decided to use the attacking midfielder's card as part of the Andrea Conti negotiations. This choice, obviously, did not prove to be useful for Il Diavolo club. However, the red and black side did not lose complete control over 24-year-old's card.
It is known that there is a particular clause inserted: in case of a future resale of the player, Milan would collect 50% of the transfer fee. Or, they can pay half his value(if they come to an agreement with Atalanta) in order to sign him again.
These two scenarios are not likely to happen at the moment. This agreement does not have an expiration date exactly, but a deadline is set for when the former Hellas Verona star reaches 100 games with Atalanta. The former Rossonero, currently, has reached 75 matches and he has 25 more to go. Atalanta, for their part, value Pessina very highly and do not plan to lose him anytime soon.
When Pessina reaches 100 official games, Milan will still benefit in some way. It is true that at the 100th game of the playmaker, the 50% option would not be valid anymore, but Atalanta would then have to pay some sort of a compensation fee of 2 million euros to the Rossoneri, as per the agreements.
