Newcastle are working hard during this transfer market window of January in order to reinforce Eddie Howe's team as the club's main target now is to stay out of the relegation zone.
The Premire League side has undeniably a considerable financial power now that would allow them to lure in some impressive profiles. One of the targets for Newcastle's board is reportedly Brazilian centre-back who is 28 years old: Diego Carlos.
According to what is reported by Daily Mail, AC Milan have proposed a deal for the 28-year-old Brazilian but it has fallen short short of the English team's 28 million-pound offer (Just a little over 33 million euros).
The Magpies are very keen on the player, but besides the Serie A giants and Newcastle, there is also Tottenham who are looking to add a defender to their squad.
The same source also adds that the Rossoneri are also keeping an eye on Japhet Tanganga as they are keen on signing him on loan from Tottenham.
The 28-year-old Sevilla star, Diego Carlos, is yet to make a final decision on his future. So far during this season, he has been able to appear in 29 games, scoring 2 goals and playing a total of 2594 minutes. His contract is due to expire in June 2024.
