SPAL president Joe Tacopina granted an interview to the microphones of The Italian Football Podcast (you can subscribe here) as he discussed many topics, including the attempt to sign Lorenzo Colombo again.
Here are his statements:
"Colombo is definitely someone that we are interested to bring back for another year. I've spoken to Ricky [Massara] and Paolo [Maldini] at Milan. This was his first year starting regularly and he started like fire but slowed down at the end of the year which is normal he's only 19 and playing every game for the first time."
"He is an incredible talent a really good boy, works really hard and someone we would love to have back unless Milan have a different path for him."
Joe Tacopina also had his say on the Scudetto race:
"I'm gonna be open with my bias up front, I'm a Milan fan. Ricky Massara is one of my closest friends in Italy. Paolo Maldini is a good friend of mine. I basically have season tickets to AC Milan. I want them to win so bad, they have earned this so much, this is their year."
"And I really believe they're the best team in Italy. Not because I'm a Milan fan, I really believe that. Rafael Leao is unbelievable. Just look at the work Paolo and Ricky have done. Their goalkeeper Maignan for example was not well known before they signed him. But look at him. They have some great players: Tonali is phenomenal, I really like the style of Saelemaekers, Diaz."
On Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
"And of course, Ibrahimovic, who don't get me wrong yes he's past his prime but when he's out there on the pitch God, does he make a difference. You feel it. Your really feel it. He is a beast. They should do it. It is their year."
On Inter also pushing for the Scudetto with Milan, Tacopina said:
"But one thing I will say is Inter have the upper hand in terms of the calendar. They have Empoli, Cagliari and Sampdoria that is 9 points in the bag. Milan playing Verona, Atalanta and Sassuolo so they can't afford to faulter. They should be able to at least get two wins and one tie to win the Scudetto."
